European beta for Warhammmer Online goes awry – hear the cries of despair

It seems the European open beta for the already famed Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning didn’t go well at all. And it seems it was almost entirely publisher GOA’s fault. Mark Jacobs, the boss of Mythic Entertainment, was none too pleased by the whole affair and made some rather bitter, yet stalwart statements to the gaming press.These problems happened only with the European launch, it all went well for the US and oceanic areas – and 50000 players had the opportunity to get a much envied close look to WAR.

Also, there were some unsavory gamers who made rude, even threatening comments on Jacobs’ blog, so he also had some strong words for them, as well. But: “This is not an excuse for GOA. We had a number of conversations with them today about everything that happened. GOA messed up and their CEO has apologized and promised to do better going forward... None of the actors in this little play came out of this unscathed... It was an ugly day.”We can only hope that GOA will make things right as soon as possible, because, last night, according to the official European site of the game, creating an account was impossible and even key authentication is “unstable”.
