Many games have been hyped up as WoW-killers.For a lot of gaming corporations, to issue an MMORPG that will get to enjoy even a meager tenth of the accomplishment of WoW would denote a revered cash cow for their ventures. To defeat the World of Warcraft - or to be a WoW-killer as a lot of people believe - would denote billions of dollars in profits yearly.Last September of 2008, an MMORPG was released that, though it may not "kill" the World of Warcraft, can very well compete with it toe to toe.More the same as to how the World of Warcraft has been warmly abridged as WoW, Warhammer Online has been tagged as WAR, or as WAAAGH by its illustrious producers.Every time you slay a player from an opposing faction, you acquire points. Every time you win an instanced RvR scenario, you gain experience. Every time you complete an objective in a world RvR scenario, you gain points.

While WoW is focused on PvE, or player vs. environment, substance, Warhammer Online takes pride in giving a PvP, or player vs. player, experience for its customers. One of Warhammer Online's unique attributes is Realm vs. Realm (RvR) battle where alliances of contradicting groups are set in rival against each other in instanced or world scenarios. This RvR scheme mainly concludes in cordons on the opposing force's capital city. The moment a group's town is captured, its members will have to make do for refugee encampments for a particular span of time, much to the enjoyment of the victorious group.
But RvR is merely like battlegrounds and PvP servers over at WoW, you might say.
