WAR just isn’t made for the old-world spam-healer.

You will never find yourself thinking “and I heal, and I heal, and I heal.” There will always be something more. Your action points will top off, and you’ll throw out some damage spells, and they’ll actually be worth using. You’ll be constantly using utility spells to survive, not just heal spamming while face-tanking. Teamwork is absolutely essential, and you find yourself working with others to survive, rather than having to go it alone. You’re not playing stupid games like “don’t spill the beans” or “red-light green-light.” You’re playing WAR. You heal, you fight, you win, you lose, and the entire time feels as if you’ve stepped through golden gates into true MMO heaven. Despite the fact that Rune Priests don’t have a system like WAAAAGH! or High Magic to encourage them to go farther than the typical healer, WAR itself simply doesn’t allow you to do anything but go farther than the typical MMO healer. Even if you’re not constantly using damage spells, you’re still doing so much more than just “and I heal, and  heal, and I heal.” You can and will do more than anything the simple, typical MMO healer can imagine.

If you’ve taken half a look at a mastery calculator, you’ve noticed that they’re not divided up between healing, damage, and utility. It’s divided up between direct healing/damage, healing/damage over time, and area-of-effect healing/damage. You don’t lose out on special mastery abilities and tactics that improve your damage by specializing in healing, because they’re together. You choose your style and do both in that style. To compliment this, much of the PvP gear has mixed stats, mixing intelligence (increases damage) with willpower (increases healing) with other survivability stats like toughness, resistances, and wounds.
