A rule to live by as a melee healer: Never be the first guy to run in. No matter how enticing it is, leave that to the tanks. They have the HP and damage mitigation to live through it, you don't. Instead, hang back and try to sneak in as if you were a melee DPS class.

A tank paired with a melee healer is perhaps one of the most devastating duo combos in the game. The melee healer's primary weakness is burst DPS, and the tank's guard ability single handedly reduces that weakness into almost nothing.

With 50% of incoming damage being mitigated, the two are an almost unkillable combo. If enemies focus on the tank, the melee healer will simply heal them all day long. If enemies focus on the melee healer, hardly any damage is even getting through.

Generally speaking, though, melee healers aren't focus fired on too often. They are fairly resilient on their own and not as obvious of a threat as other classes.
