Do you think women gamers face any obstacles or perhaps aren’t taken seriously, just because they are women?

I’ve always played female avatars. I enjoy seeing my female character laying waste to mobs and players alike, in Buffy-esque fashion. Maybe I’ll finally have to try a male character in WAR since so many destruction classes are male only (or male-looking fungus only, even more appealing). C’mon Mythic, put in female Chosen already!

There seems to be a perception that women prefer to pve, play healers, craft, and look pretty. There’s also a perception that women are poor players so you have to prove yourself a bit more. There are lots of people who don’t think this way, but enough do that it’s noticeable. Not many women lead the whole realm in RVR, though there are plenty of female guildmasters and officers, so maybe there’s some kind of barrier there. I also think developers could do more to make games welcoming to women. When your character has no armor choice but a little metal bikini, or no choice but a female succubus pet, or you want to play a tank but discover that females can’t be tanks, it’s annoying and may cause some women to not want to play.
